The Fierros

When I first heard the news that Richard Fierro was credited with stopping the Club Q shooter, my mind went to a few months ago, when I photographed him and his family at their brewery for a piece about the popularity of Mexican lagers. My heart sank when I heard of their involvement in the Club Q shooting, and although I’ve photographed and spoken to them in the days since the tragedy, this is how I prefer to think of them. The gracious, friendly, funny family that was dedicated to their community and helping out however they could. It’s no surprise Richard was a hero that day, and no surprise that he answered a call very few could. I may share coverage from the shooting, I may not. But the Fierro family deserves their own space.
