Unreasonable Group

Strange Visuals had the opportunity to collaborate with Unreasonable Group, an organization dedicated to uplifting, advising and fostering community among impact-focused entrepreneurs, investors, and institutions who wish to solve our world's most pressing problems.

This 7-year partnership spanned the globe, producing visuals and helping to shape the identity of Unreasonable's presence in the U.S., European, and Asian markets. Showcasing both the important work Unreasonable and its fellows are undertaking, as well as the lifestyle aspects and community-based approach to business they foster was a central tenant of this work.

In addition to documentary-style work of these immersive events, we were tasked with producing portraits of more than 100 entrepreneurs in total. Finding fresh visual approaches, while maintaining consistency over several years of shooting and developing stylistic approaches for programs across the globe was an ever-evolving creative and logistical challenge that we greatly enjoyed.

These events regularly hosted VIP's in intimate settings including high-ranking government officials, influential business and thought leaders, members of global royal families and well-known public figures. Working with them in these settings allowed us to work without the typical pressures, scrutiny, and logistical difficulties typically presented when working with high-profile individuals.

Events were held in New York City, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Bay Area, and more. From boardrooms to private islands in the pacific, remote hideaways in the redwoods and estates in the English countryside, the immersive experiences created incredibly intimate settings that allowed a fresh approach to documenting corporate lifestyle. The freedom allowed us to showcase a new side to traditionally stuffy work, and allowed plenty of creative expression within the work.

While creative expression was at the forefront of our approach, a key component was producing work that balanced the needs of a large amount of stakeholders beyond Unreasonable Group. Work was produced to meet the needs of the entrepreneurs themselves, Barclay's, Pearson, The U.S. State Department, and other corporate & governmental backers that were instrumental in making various programs happen throughout the years. This led to a complex patchwork of photo requests that were handled in real-time while on site, as well as the weeks before and after the events.

This project has been an incredibly enriching experience, allowing us to work with some of the most innovative entrepreneurs of our time across the globe, and create a body of corporate lifestyle work that showcases a new breed of business that integrates purpose, passion, and lifestyle into corporate culture. It is our hope to do more of this kind of immersive work in the future.
